PKP Intercity has initiated the largest rolling stock procurement in its history, with a tender for 300 new passenger wagons and an option for an additional 150.
The bid, which is part of the carrier's ambitious "PKP Intercity - Kolej Dużych Inwestycji" investment strategy, has attracted proposals from two domestic manufacturers: H.Cegielski Fabryka Pojazdów Szynowych and Newag. With a project budget set at PLN 2,844 million (approx. PLN 4,266 million with the option), the contract stipulates delivery within 96 months, paving the way for an entirely new or modernized fleet by 2030. The current phase of the tender involves a meticulous review of the bids to ensure compliance with the specified tender requirements.
