For the vast majority of last year, 2021 got marked by an ever-present pandemic in the rail industry. But it was indeed a better year than the one before, and for many promoted rail managers, it was even a breakthrough year in which they achieved colossal career success. Below are some of the significant changes in various positions in the CEE railways over the past year.
Czech Railways:
There were many considerable management changes at the turn of 2020/2021. Ivan Bednárik was appointed chairman of the board of directors of České Drahy, while Tomáš Tóth took over the management of the subsidiary ČD CARGO.
Alstom:
In spring 2021, Alstom appointed Sławomir Nalewajka as managing director of the company's operations in Poland, Ukraine, and the Baltic States. Dan Kurucz joined Alstom for the Czech and Slovak Republics as Managing Director from autumn 2021.
GATX Rail Europe:
In April 2021, GATX Rail Europe's new technical director. The company then announced that Jörg Nowaczyk would take over as Chief Commercial Officer on 1 July 2021. Götz Nink will take up this important position.
CTL Logistics:
On 30 June 2021, the Supervisory Board of CTL Logistics made changes to the composition of the Management Board. Paweł Stawarz got appointed as a Member of the Management Board for Operations, and Krzysztof Pietrzyk got selected as a Member of the Management Board for Sales and Development.
ÖBB/Rail Cargo group:
In December 2021, the management of the Rail Cargo Group decided that Gottfried Eymer would be the new member of the Board of Directors responsible for market and sales as of January 2022. Also, as of the new year, Peter Thier is the new head of communications of the parent company - ÖBB.
DB Cargo Polska:
At the end of 2021, the Supervisory Board of DB Cargo Polska appointed Katarzyna Marciniak to the DB Cargo Polska Management Board in charge of the company's finances.
Siemens Mobility/Poland:
As of the new year 2022, there are changes in the management of the Polish branch of Siemens Mobility. Hubert Meronk has replaced Krzysztof Celiński as CEO of the company.
