In this way, it has significantly invested in increasing the efficiency of rail transport. Modern tanks from Ermewa, which were manufactured last year, allow a larger volume of cargo to be transported and have special features such as crash bumpers, protective shields, and a reinforced casing bottom. The contract also includes routine operational maintenance by the supplier.
"I am pleased that thanks to the contract with Ermewa, we have been able to modernize our fleet for domestic and international transport, which is provided by our subsidiary ORLEN Unipetrol Doprava. The new tanks made of fine-grained carbon steel meet all safety regulations and at the same time enable the transport of a larger volume of cargo within one train, thus helping us to increase transport efficiency. I believe that our long-term cooperation with Ermewa will continue to work as well as before, "said Ryszard Pilch, Member of the Board of Directors of the ORLEN Unipetrol Group responsible for logistics and transportation of fuels and products.
The tank truck nicknamed “Safety ++” was developed in cooperation with the Polish truck manufacturer CHEMET S.A. in order to maximize safety and optimize operating characteristics. The result of the development is a car with a length of 18.1 m with a container with a volume of 117 m3. It is equipped with bumpers with zones for the absorption of impact energy up to 400 kJ and instead of elements against the start of a neighboring car, TE25 protective shields are used. Another element of passive protection is the reinforced lower part of the boiler casing to increase the resistance to puncture.
The signing of agreements for the lease of gas transmission vehicles has strengthened the 26-year cooperation between Ermewa SA and ORLEN Unipetrol RPA. "The new LPG Safety ++ is developing promisingly into a very successful model," confirms regional general manager Cyrille Guyon, and there is also demand in Poland and Italy, among others. Ermewa SA responded to the interest by increasing the option at the same manufacturer by another 150 wagons to the already existing order of 240 cars from 2020.
