In January 2021, Alstom won a € 106 million contract to design and install new high-speed corridor security, control, and telecommunications systems. In May 2020, Alstom also won a train contract worth € 314 million. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor will be 82 km long with 25 stations and allow trains to run at 180 km / h.

"Nokia advanced railway solutions are designed to deliver a new level of connectivity for rail operators. Teams need to be aware of train positions in real-time to ensure the safety of passengers, and private wireless offers the security, reliability, and high-speeds required to enable this," said Kamal Ballout, Head of Enterprise Solutions CHIMEA (China, India, Middle East, and Africa) at Nokia.

Nokia and Alstom have partnered to deliver India's world's first 4.9G / LTE private wireless network to support the European Level 2 European Train Protection System (ETCS) on the Delhi-Mírut Regional Rapid Transit System, currently under construction.

Fully redundant private network, based on Nokia Modular Private Wireless (MPW), including the latest AirScale radios, developed air frame-based packet core, 7250 IXR IP / MPLS backhaul routers, a group communication platform for critical push to talk / video (MCx (GC) and the Network Services Platform (NSP), will cover an 82 km long railway line that includes 25 stations.
