LTG Cargo, a subsidiary of Lithuanian Railways (LTG) Group, has taken steps to diversify its activities by signing international cooperation agreements with Kazakh companies to develop the intermodal Trans-Caspian logistics corridor.

This will open up new opportunities to transport cargo from Asia to the Klaipėda Sea Port. LTG Cargo aims to diversify its activities and help businesses find the logistics solutions they need. The company plans to connect Lithuania to the Far East and Central Asia, bypassing Russia, to contribute to the development of a multi-modal route - rail, port and road - crossing nine countries.

To achieve this, LTG Cargo has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kazakhstan's Temirzhol Zhondeu to cooperate on a railway project in Moldova. It plans to offer locomotive rental services to the company and other firms in Kazakhstan and to start freight forwarding services. LTG Cargo has also signed an agreement with Eurasian Vector to transport 13,000 tonnes of metal alloy cargo to Klaipėda Seaport later this year.

In addition, LTG Cargo Ukraine has signed a direct cooperation agreement with KTZ Express to conduct intermodal transport along the Trans-Caspian corridor. Furthermore, LTG Cargo is expanding its operations to the West, successfully transporting cargo by rail from Lithuania to Germany, while developing partnerships with Latvian and Estonian counterparts and looking to exploit the potential of the Ambertrain train between the Baltic States and Western Europe.
