The search for new apprentices for the autumn is also entering a hot phase at ÖBB. They are aiming for a new record: 650 apprentices are to be taken on – more than ever before. To recruit the smartest talents for the railway, new, unconventional methods are being used: for the first time, young people can apply for an apprenticeship via video on TikTok. With this, the company is once again taking on a pioneering role in recruiting apprentices and has brought two real TikTok stars on board.

Cooperation with top influencers
To make the new application possibility known to the young target group, the two TikTokers Anna Strigl and Satansbratan are involved. Together with ÖBB apprentices, they call on people on TikTok to apply directly via the ÖBB channel with creative and meaningful short videos.
And this is how it works: applicants can easily stitch or duet the two calls for applications by Anna Strigl and Satansbratan on the ÖBB TikTok Channel with their video via the share button. What kind of video the applicants want to record is entirely up to them. 'Five reasons why you want to be an ÖBB apprentice' or 'Film yourself doing your favourite hobby.' ÖBB is looking forward to all videos!

The report card is not everything
A conscious decision was made for this new application option – according to the motto: certificates and grades are not everything that counts: "For us, it is not only about good school performance, but personal motivation is in the foreground. We want to attract committed and enthusiastic young people. That's why there is now the possibility to dock with us on TikTok with application videos and convince us. We will then clarify the remaining formalities afterwards," says Ursula Bazant, Head of Training and Further Education at ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG.
To this end, contact is then made with the applicants, and the ideal apprenticeship is found through a counselling interview. Finally, the remaining required applicant data is collected.
