Grup Feroviar Roman (GFR), the leading entity of GRAMPET GROUP - South East Europe's largest private rail holding - has redefined railway transport and logistics since its inception in 2001. Boasting 18 companies, GRAMPET GROUP's repertoire spans diverse domains like cargo rail transport operators, logistics, construction, rolling stock repairs and maintenance, and IT services. As a national leader in the transportation of oil products by rail, GFR's solid partnerships have been integral in offering comprehensive services and optimum technical and financial solutions tailored to customer needs.
Over the past 18 years, GFR has achieved a series of significant milestones. Since commencing operations as a manoeuvre operator in 2001, GFR evolved into a railway transport provider the following year. By 2006, it had conducted its first international transport and by 2010 was operating across all of Romania's state borders. GFR's commitment to international cooperation is evident in its memberships with representative international organizations and its collaboration with state and private railway operators across Europe. Notably, international traffic comprises over 20% of GFR's services, offering complex logistics solutions to its global clientele.
GFR's robust management, demonstrated by its exceptional performance during the economic crisis, has seen a transport increase of 85% in 2010, growing from 5 million net tons in 2007 to 9.25 million net tons. Since 2011, the company has consistently transported an average of 1 million net tons per month, hitting a record in 2017 with over 14 million net tons and an indicator of over 3500 million net kilometres. Additionally, GFR's Terminal Bucharest – a logistics terminal spread across a vast 110,000 square meters in Chitila – streamlines the intermodal transport flow via the handling and storage of palletised goods and containers.
