Dr. Martin Neese joins VTG Group as Chief Commercial Officer to lead the company’s commercial strategy, drive growth, and refine its go-to-market approach across Europe.

Effective November 18, 2024, Dr. Martin Neese will assume the position of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at VTG Group, reporting directly to CEO Alberto Nobis. Accordinng to VTG's press release, Neese’s primary focus will be driving VTG’s commercial strategy, targeting strategic account development, market expansion, and profitable growth. In this role, he will also oversee the modernization of VTG’s sales organization and the refinement of its go-to-market strategy across Europe.

Extensive Background in Rail and Logistics

Dr. Neese brings extensive experience to VTG, having previously worked at Kearney, a global management consulting firm where he advised VTG and other major players in the rail and transportation sectors across Europe and the Middle East. He has also held executive roles at DP World and the Rhenus Group. Among his notable positions, he served as CEO of Crossrail Group and Rhenus Freight Logistics and was part of the founding team of Contargo, a leading European intermodal inland network. Earlier in his career, he worked with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and other consultancies after completing studies in physics and business administration.

Expertise in Transport and Rail Cargo

With over 25 years of experience in transport, logistics, and rail cargo, Neese brings deep operational and strategic knowledge to VTG, covering both asset leasing and rail logistics. He pointed out his focus on customer needs and market adaptability: "A consequent re-focus on our customers and their changing demands in these turbulent times will be our first priority. In combination with the leading wagon fleet offering across Europe, this will enable VTG to continue its success story."

Neese also mentioned VTG’s potential to simplify and connect its services while advancing sustainable and innovative rail solutions: "Given the evolving market environments, VTG, too, will adapt. We will simplify, connect and grow our services to our customers and drive sustainable and innovative rail transport solutions for every industry.
