The environmental development program implemented on the Donges industrial site bypass project is very large-scale. Following the commitments made to the State, SNCF Réseau is compensating for the impacts of the creation of the new line by a "factor of two".
For example, for every 100 square meters of wetland impacted, the project will create 200 square meters of new wetland. The same principle applies to other environments related to avifauna, reptiles, and other habitats.

In general, 17 zones covering approximately 17 hectares will be used for environmental compensation measures with all types of recreation and renaturation of environments: hibernaculum for lizards, swathes for hedgehogs, a shelter for chiropterans (bats), ponds for amphibians, and wetlands for the fauna and flora typical for this environment.
Very detailed work has been undertaken with the ACROLA association to define the terms and level of management over 20 years from the commissioning of the new railroad line section. To safeguard these commitments, agreements have been drawn up with the landowners (TotalEnergies, Grand Port Maritime de Nantes Saint-Nazaire, the commune of Donges), ACROLA, and SNCF Réseau.
