The Donges industrial site bypass project has initiated a substantial environmental development program that adheres to the commitments set forth by the State.
SNCF Réseau is implementing a compensation program that is twice as large as the impacts generated by the new line's construction. For instance, the creation of 200 square meters of new wetland will compensate for the loss of 100 square meters of wetland. This principle will also be applied to other environments that are related to avifauna, reptiles, and other habitats.

This large-scale compensation program encompasses 17 zones that occupy approximately 17 hectares, which will feature a wide variety of environmental conservation and rehabilitation measures, such as hibernaculum for lizards, swathes for hedgehogs, a shelter for chiropterans (bats), ponds for amphibians, and wetlands for the fauna and flora specific to this area. Detailed discussions with the ACROLA association have been conducted to determine the level and terms of management for a period of 20 years from the commissioning of the new railroad line section. Agreements have been executed with the landowners, including TotalEnergies, Grand Port Maritime de Nantes Saint-Nazaire, the commune of Donges, ACROLA, and SNCF Réseau to ensure that these commitments will be adhered to.
