Change at the top of DB Communications: Nicole Mommsen (48) will succeed Oliver Schumacher. The Group Board of Management confirmed the appointment at its meeting on Tuesday.

Nicole Mommsen is currently Head of Communications and Sustainability at Volkswagen Group Technology, which has become the most important driver of e-mobility in the Volkswagen Group. She was responsible for Volkswagen's global communications under CEO Herbert Diess until September 2022. After studying humanities and journalism in Bonn and Chicago, Nicole Mommsen began her career in 2000 at Bloomberg News, from where she moved to Deutsche Post DHL in financial communications in 2007. She went on to hold senior positions at strategic communications consultancy Brunswick Group, science and technology company Merck and investment bank Goldman Sachs.

DB CEO Dr Richard Lutz: "With Nicole Mommsen, we are gaining one of the most experienced corporate communicators in Germany. With her strategic focus and orientation towards the requirements of digitalisation, she has modernised and transformed the communications of leading companies. Nicole Mommsen will help us to master DB's many opportunities and challenges in the coming years. We are very much looking forward to working with her."

Oliver Schumacher is taking his leave at the end of July, as planned for a long time, into the passive phase of partial retirement. The 62-year-old economist joined DB in 2006 and has since been responsible for communications for three CEOs and the Supervisory Board. In 2015, he also took over as Head of Marketing. Dr Richard Lutz: "Oliver Schumacher has shaped an era and built a real high-performance team that sets standards in Germany. His achievements and merits are quite rightly recognised beyond DB. I personally am also very grateful to him for his tireless commitment and absolute reliability. All of us at DB wish him nothing but the best for the future."
