The Supervisory Board of Rail Cargo Austria AG appointed Bettina Castillo as a board member for Production and Maintenance with effect from 1 January 2024. She succeeds Imre Kovács, who will work for ÖBB as Senior Advisor for Eastern and South-Eastern Europe.

Bettina Castillo, who holds a doctorate in business administration, has 15 years of professional experience in logistics management and was most recently Head of Global Supply Operations Management, responsible for the development and optimization of goods flows at IKEA. Born in Salzburg, she started her career in academia, first at the Institute for Production and Logistics Management at Johannes Kepler University Linz, then at the Kühne Institute for Logistics Management at the University of St. Gallen in research and teaching on logistics network planning and combined transport. From 2009 to 2015, Castillo held various management positions at SBB Cargo and SBB Cargo International, most recently as a member of the Management Board and safety manager for transports in Europe. Since October 2015, she has been responsible for IKEA's global logistics as Global Supply Operations Manager at IKEA Supply AG.

"With Bettina Castillo, an absolute logistics specialist is taking over the Production and Maintenance divisions at Rail Cargo Austria AG. I am pleased that we were able to win her for the team. With her, we have gained a proven logistics expert with great enthusiasm for rail for ÖBB freight transport. At the same time, I would like to thank Imre Kovacs for the important accents he has set in the production department, including his contribution to the introduction of the single wagon subsidy in Hungary, and I welcome the fact that he will remain with us as Chairman of the Board of Rail Cargo Hungaria and Senior Advisor for Eastern and South-Eastern Europe in this area at ÖBB," emphasized the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Rail Cargo Austria AG, ÖBB CEO Andreas Matthä.

Imre Kovács remains with ÖBB with his expertise

Imre Kovács, the former Chief Production Officer of Rail Cargo Austria AG, will remain Chairman of the Board of Rail Cargo Hungaria. In addition, he will take on a new function as Senior Advisor for Eastern and South-Eastern Europe to further deepen ÖBB's cooperation in these regions.
