ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has been transporting up to 80,000 tonnes of clinker and granulated blast furnace slag annually in round trips for its customer, w&p Zement, since 2019.

The transportation is conducted in a multimodal manner using MOBILER. The Alpacem subsidiary, w&p Zement GmbH, is a provider of cement, binders, aggregates, and special building materials for southern Austria's (construction) industry, with its locations in Wietersdorf, Carinthia, and Peggau, Styria.

The TransFER works as follows: w&p Zement has a siding at its premises in Wietersdorf, where the MOBILER containers are loaded with cement clinker and transported by rail to the unloading point at the Peggau-Deutschfeistritz railway station in Styria. The MOBILER is utilized for the last mile by truck. The process is referred to as a "triangular transport" as up to 40,000 tonnes of clinker and 40,000 tonnes of granulated blast furnace slag are transported in a round trip.
