For more than two decades, Alstom has been part of Denmark’s railway sector. Now the company is making that presence impossible to miss. With a new headquarters in Hvidovre bringing together hundreds of employees under one roof, Alstom is signalling that its ambitions in Denmark go far beyond supplying trains — from the IC5 fleet and Copenhagen Metro upgrades to the rollout of ERTMS across the country.

Alstom is bringing together its Danish operations under one roof with the opening of a new national headquarters in Hvidovre, located in the western part of the Greater Copenhagen area. The new office space was inaugurated on May 20 in the presence of key stakeholders for the Danish railway industry.

The newly renovated 3,700 m² facility provides space for more than 300 employees and marks the first time that all of Alstom Denmark’s office staff are gathered under the same roof.

Strategic Hub for Rail Projects in Denmark

Alstom has been active in Denmark for more than 20 years, delivering over 500 trains that move Danes across the country every day.

In recent years, the company’s presence has become even more pronounced: from the historic IC5 Coradia Stream fleet order to the modernisation of the Copenhagen metro fleet and the rollout of the new ERTMS signalling system in Eastern Denmark, Alstom has firmly established itself as a key player in the Danish rail sector.

"With this new office, we are not just investing in physical space – we are investing in our future in Denmark. We are here to stay, and this opening is a clear signal of that – both to our employees and to our partners," says Jörg Nikutta, Managing Director for Alstom Denmark.

Sustainable and Future-Ready Workplace

The new headquarters is designed with a strong focus on sustainability, accessibility, and modern working environments. With features such as acoustic floors, sound-absorbing wall panels, green breakout areas, flexible workstations and quiet zones, the office provides a collaborative and comfortable environment that supports wellbeing, cooperation and efficiency.

In addition to office functions, the site also houses a specialised engineering lab that plays a vital role in delivering rail signalling solutions across the Nordic region. With capabilities spanning both onboard and trackside systems, the lab supports integration, testing and validation for multiple national programmes in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

With the establishment of these new premises, Alstom marks its long-term commitment to the Danish railway sector.
